Emailing triggers

Every trigger can also email the customer when it sends. It's controlled by the Email Delivery setting, which is on by default for new triggers.

Turning trigger emails on or off

  1. Go to Triggers and open the trigger.

  2. Under Email Delivery, switch Send an email notification on or off.

  3. Click Save.

The setting is read when each message sends, so changing it applies to messages that are already scheduled.

What the customer receives

  • Subject: "{Your business name} sent you a message". The subject can't be customized.

  • Body: your trigger message with its formatting, followed by a View Message button that opens the conversation in the customer's Birrdi messages.

  • Footer: an unsubscribe link.

The email always comes in addition to the in-app message. Turning email off means the customer only gets the in-app message. Triggers do not send SMS.

When an email isn't sent

The in-app message still arrives, but no email goes out, if:

  • The customer has no email address on file with your business.

  • The customer has unsubscribed from your business's message emails.

Unsubscribes

If a customer clicks the unsubscribe link, they stop getting message emails from your business. That covers trigger emails, message emails and announcement emails. They still receive the messages in-app.

Replies

Customers can't reply to the email itself (it comes from a no-reply address). They reply by clicking View Message and answering in Birrdi, unless the trigger has Auto Close on, in which case replies are turned off.
