If a customer's automatic membership payment fails, Birrdi will notify both the customer and your location so the payment issue can be resolved.
Customer Notification
The customer will receive an email letting them know that their membership payment was unsuccessful.
The email includes a link for the customer to update their card on file.
If the customer updates their payment method through this email, Birrdi will automatically attempt to collect the failed membership payment using the new card.
Location Notification
Your location will also receive an email notifying you that the customer's automatic membership payment failed.
This notification is sent to the email address configured in your Location Settings.
Make sure the email address in your Location Settings is current so the appropriate person at your facility receives these notifications.
Updating the Card for the Customer
An admin can also update the customer's card on file manually:
Click Customers in the top menu bar in Birrdi.
Search for the customer.
Click the customer's name.
Open the Cards on File tab.
Remove the customer's old or invalid card.
Add a new card on file.
Collecting the Failed Payment
If an admin updates the customer's card on file, Birrdi will not immediately retry the failed membership payment.
You have two options:
Charge the missed payment manually in Square and update the next billing date on the membership. The customer's normal membership billing can then continue on its existing schedule.
Set the customer's Next Billing Date to the next day. Birrdi will attempt the membership charge automatically on that date using the updated card on file.
Alternatively, you can have the customer use the link in their failed payment email to update their card themselves. When they do this, Birrdi will automatically attempt to collect the failed membership payment and update the next billing date automatically.
