Time Gap Detected: What It Means & How to Fix It

If you see the warning:

“Time gap detected. Variable rates should have a 1-minute gap between each range.”

This means your variable rates are not connected properly.

How Variable Rates Work

Variable rates let you charge different prices for the same rate name throughout the day.

All variable rates must:

  • Use the exact same name

  • Cover time continuously across the day

Birrdi treats these as one rate that changes based on time.

The Key Rule

There must be NO gaps and NO overlaps between time ranges.

Each time block must touch exactly.

Correct Setup ✅

Your times should connect perfectly:

  • 8:00 AM – 2:59 PM

  • 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM

✔ No missing minutes
✔ No overlap
✔ Clean transition

Incorrect Setup ❌ (Gap)

  • 8:00 AM – 2:59 PM

  • 3:05 PM – 9:00 PM

🚫 Missing time between 3:00–3:04 PM

Birrdi sees this as the rate being unavailable during that gap.

Incorrect Setup ❌ (Overlap)

  • 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

  • 3:00 PM – 9:00 PM

🚫 Overlapping at 3:00 PM

This also breaks the rate logic.

Why This Matters

If there’s even a 1-minute gap or overlap, Birrdi cannot properly calculate pricing across a reservation.

This can cause:

  • Rates appearing unavailable

  • Booking errors

  • Incorrect pricing behavior

How to Fix It

  1. Go to your Rates

  2. Review each time range for the same rate name

  3. Make sure:

    • The next rate starts exactly 1 minute after the previous ends

    • No time is skipped

    • No times overlap

Quick Tip

When in doubt:

  • End one rate at 2:59 PM

  • Start the next at 3:00 PM

That keeps everything aligned.

If you’re still seeing this error, double-check every rate in the group — one misaligned time block will break the entire setup.
