Birrdi and Square are used for different types of reporting.
Birrdi is best for reservation and utilization reporting.
Square is the source of truth for transactions, revenue, payments, taxes, discounts, refunds, and sales reporting.
Reporting in Birrdi
Birrdi helps you understand reservation activity, including:
Total Reservations – number of reservations in the selected period
Average Session Length – average duration of those reservations
Busiest Times and Days – when customers reserve most often
Bay Usage – simulator utilization
Credit Usage – usage of membership, pack, league, or complimentary credits
Reservation Indicators
Pre-Paid – an online reservation made through Birrdi where payment was collected during checkout. This is determined by your Pre-Payment settings.
Not Paid – payment has not been collected through Birrdi. This can include online reservations when Pre-Payment is OFF.
Paid $0 – the reservation had no remaining balance, such as when credits fully covered it.
Reserved by Staff – the reservation was manually created by staff through Birrdi Admin.
If you are trying to understand reservation activity, booking source, or utilization, use Birrdi.
Revenue and Transaction Reporting
For financial reporting, use Square.
Examples include:
Total revenue
Revenue by rate
Membership revenue
Lesson revenue
Pack sales
Refunds
Discounts
Taxes
Payment methods
Gross and net sales
Transaction history
Each Birrdi rate should be connected to the appropriate Square Item.
For example:
1 Hour Public Peak
1 Hour Public Off-Peak
30 Min Public Peak
1 Hour Lesson with John
Monthly Membership
Because transactions are associated with these Square Items, you can use Square's advanced sales and reporting tools to analyze revenue by item, date range, category, customer, and other available filters.
For example, if you want to know:
How much revenue did my Peak rate generate last month?
Use Square reporting and review the Square Item connected to that Birrdi rate.
Memberships and Credits
Membership payments are processed through Square, so use Square to report on membership revenue and transactions.
Birrdi's Credit Usage reporting shows how membership or other credits are being redeemed.
These are different:
Membership payment → Square
Membership credit usage → Birrdi
Which Should I Use?
Use Birrdi for:
Reservations
Average session length
Online vs. staff-created reservations
Utilization
Bay usage
Credit usage
Use Square for:
Revenue
Payments
Transactions
Membership sales
Rate or item sales
Taxes
Discounts
Refunds
Simple Rule
Reservation activity = Birrdi
Money and transactions = Square
If a financial question can be answered using the Square Item connected to a Birrdi rate, use Square's reporting instead of trying to calculate it from Birrdi reservation data.
