How To Pair A Square Terminal Device To Birrdi

Updated over a month ago

Square Terminal devices can be connected to Birrdi to allow staff to take in-person payments directly from reservations.

Once paired, Birrdi will display a Pay on Terminal button on reservations that have not been pre-paid, allowing staff to quickly process payment from the front counter.

Before You Start

To connect a Square Terminal to Birrdi:

• Your Square account must already be connected to Birrdi
• You must have your Square Terminal physically with you
• The Square Terminal must be powered on and connected to WiFi

Step 1 — Open Square Terminal Pairing In Birrdi

  1. Log into the Birrdi Admin:
    https://company.birrdi.com

  2. Click Integrations in the top menu bar

  3. Click Square Terminal in the left sidebar

  4. Click Pair Device

Step 2 — Name Your Terminal Device

You will be asked to enter a name for your terminal.

Choose something clear that staff will recognize.

Examples:

• Main Counter Terminal
• Front Desk Terminal

Once you enter the device name, Birrdi will generate a device pairing code.

Step 3 — Sign Into Your Square Terminal Using The Device Code

You must now complete pairing directly on your Square Terminal.

  1. On the Square Terminal, sign out of the current Square login (if already signed in)

  2. Choose the option to Sign in with Device Code

  3. Enter the device code shown inside Birrdi

⚠️ The device code expires after 5 minutes, so this step must be completed promptly.

Step 4 — Confirm Pairing Success

Once pairing is successful:

• The terminal will appear in your Birrdi Square Terminal device list
• The device will now be ready to accept payments

How Pay On Terminal Works

After pairing is complete, Birrdi automatically enables terminal payments.

On any reservation that is not pre-paid, staff will see a:

👉 Pay on Terminal button

When clicked:

• The payment request is sent directly to the paired Square Terminal
• Staff can complete the sale immediately at the counter
• This allows fast checkout during busy periods

Important Notes

• Terminal payments are only available for reservations that have not already been paid online
• Each Square Terminal must be paired individually
• You can pair multiple terminals if your facility uses more than one checkout station

Troubleshooting Pairing Issues

If pairing fails:

• Make sure the Square Terminal is connected to WiFi
• Make sure you entered the device code correctly
• Generate a new device code if the previous one expired
• Try signing out and signing back into the terminal again

Tip: Dedicated Counter Terminal Recommended

For best results, most facilities dedicate one Square Terminal for front desk payments.

Once a terminal is paired with Birrdi, it is typically used for reservation payments rather than general mobile checkout.
