How to Create a Square Item for a Birrdi Rate

Birrdi rates are linked to Square items. Before a rate can be sold through Birrdi, you must first create the item in Square and then connect it to the rate in Birrdi.

Step 1: Sign In to Square

Open your Square Dashboard and sign in.

Step 2: Navigate to Your Item Library

From the left menu, click:

Items & Services → Items

Step 3: Create a New Item

Click Create Item.

Step 4: Enter the Item Information

Enter the following information:

Item Name

Use a clear name that matches the rate in Birrdi.

Examples:

  • Public 30 Min Sim

  • Member 30 Min Sim

Price

Enter the price for a single booking interval.

For most facilities, the booking interval is 30 minutes, so the Square item price should reflect the 30-minute rate.

Examples:

Rate

Square Item Price

Public 30 Min Sim

$15

Public 30 Min Sim

$30

Public 30 Min Sim

$60

Taxes

Configure taxes if applicable for your business.

Click Save.

Your item is now available in your Square catalog.

Step 6: Return to Birrdi

Navigate back to Birrdi and go to:

Simulators → [Your Simulator] -> Rates

Open the rate you want to connect.

Step 7: Link the Square Item

Locate the Price/Rate field.

Click Link a Square item and Select the Square item you just created.

If the item does not appear immediately, refresh the page and try again.

Step 8: Save the Rate

Click Save.

The rate is now connected to Square.

Example

Your facility uses 30-minute booking intervals.

You charge $30 per 30 minutes for public simulator bookings.

In Square, create an item named:

Public 30 Min Sim with a price of: $30

Then return to Birrdi, edit your Public Simulator Rate, and select Public 30 Min Sim in the Square Item field.

When customers make reservations using that rate, Birrdi will record the purchase against that Square item in Square.

Common Mistake

The Square item price should match the price of your booking interval.

For example, if your facility uses 30-minute intervals and customers pay $30 every 30 minutes, the Square item price should be $30, not an hourly amount.

Birrdi does not calculate or convert hourly pricing when linking Square items. The Square item should always reflect the actual price charged for a single booking interval.

How Checkout Pricing Works

The Square item represents the price for a single booking interval.

For most facilities, that interval is 30 minutes.

For example:

  • Square Item: Public 30 Min Sim

  • Price: $30

  • Time Interval: 30 Minutes

At checkout, customers can book any duration that your rate allows:

  • 30 Minutes

  • 1 Hour

  • 1.5 Hours

  • 2 Hours

  • 3 Hours

  • 4 Hours

Birrdi automatically calculates the total price based on the number of 30-minute intervals selected.

Example:

Duration

Total Price

30 Minutes

$30

1 Hour

$60

1.5 Hours

$90

2 Hours

$120

3 Hours

$180

4 Hours

$240

You only need to create a single Square item for the rate. Birrdi will automatically calculate the final booking amount based on the reservation length selected by the customer.
