Overview

Many operators get confused about how gift cards work in Birrdi, especially when it comes to sending and redeeming them.

Here’s the key concept:

All gift cards created through Square and used with Birrdi are tied to the recipient’s phone number, not their email. However, if the email is used, the gift card may still be used in Birrdi! Read more below!

Troubleshooting Tips

  1. If the gift card was sent to their phone number, it will automatically appear in Birrdi - no need to enter anything manually.

  2. If it was sent by email or is a physical card, no problem - they can still use it by entering the gift card number in Birrdi and applying it.

How Redemption Works

When the recipient signs into Birrdi using their phone number and tries to reserve a time at your location:

  • Birrdi checks if a gift card is tied to that phone number

  • If it is, the gift card will automatically load (see image below)

  • There’s nothing extra they need to do, no manually entering codes required.

  • If the gift card did get sent to their email, don't worry they can still use it in Birrdi. They simply need to type in the manual gift card number. Here is where they can type it in, under the Gift Card Tab:
