Gift cards can be used to discount the initial signup of a membership. Customers can apply a gift card during checkout when the membership is configured to allow gift card payments.
Note: Birrdi also supports Promo Codes on memberships. If you want customers to enter a discount code (for example, WELCOME25), use a Membership Promo Code instead. Gift cards remain a great option for store credit, prizes, giveaways, and one-off discounts.
How Gift Cards Work with Memberships
Gift cards can be applied only at the time of initial membership signup, and only if the membership allows it.
Important Notes
✅ Gift cards apply to the first charge only.
❌ Gift cards do not apply to future recurring payments.
🔁 After signup, the member's saved payment method will be charged automatically for future renewals.
How to Enable Gift Cards for a Membership
Step 1: Navigate to Plans -> Memberships.
Step 2: Open the membership you want to edit.
Step 3: Locate Allow Gift Card Payments.
Step 4: Set the value to Yes.
Step 5: Click Save.
Once enabled, customers will be able to apply a gift card during membership signup.
What Customers Experience at Checkout
During signup:
Customers can enter a gift card code.
The gift card balance is applied to the initial membership charge.
Any remaining balance follows your standard gift card rules.
On future renewals:
The membership renews automatically.
Charges are made to the customer's saved payment method.
