Time Interval vs Minimum Reservation Length

Understanding the difference between time intervals and minimum reservation length is important — they control two very different things in Birrdi.

Time Interval (15, 30, 60 minutes)

The time interval determines how your entire schedule is structured.

It controls:

  • The time slots customers can book (e.g. every 15, 30, or 60 minutes)

  • How all rates are calculated

  • How availability is displayed across your calendar

Examples:

  • 15-minute interval → bookings at 10:00, 10:15, 10:30, etc.

  • 30-minute interval → bookings at 10:00, 10:30, 11:00, etc.

  • 60-minute interval → bookings at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, etc.

Changing your time interval impacts your entire system and requires backend updates.

Important:
When you change your time interval, your rates must also be updated to match the new interval.

For example:

  • Moving from 30 → 60 minutes means your rates must be converted to hourly pricing

  • Moving from 60 → 30 minutes means your rates must be split into half-hour pricing

Cost:
$100 one-time fee

Minimum Reservation Length (e.g. 1-hour minimum)

The minimum reservation length controls the shortest booking a customer can make.

It does NOT change your schedule — it only sets a booking rule.

Examples:

  • 30-minute interval + 1-hour minimum → customer must book at least 2 time slots

  • 15-minute interval + 1-hour minimum → customer must book at least 4 time slots

This is a flexible setting you can update at any time.

Cost:
Free — no fee

Key Difference

  • Time Interval = how your schedule is built and requires rate updates (paid change)

  • Minimum Reservation Length = booking rule on top of your schedule (free setting)

When Should You Change Each?

Change Time Interval if:

  • You want a completely different scheduling structure (e.g. move from 30 → 60 minutes)

Use Minimum Reservation Length if:

  • You want to require longer bookings (e.g. minimum 1 hour)

  • You want to keep flexibility without changing your entire setup
