Google Ads Integration (DIY Setup)

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Birrdi’s Google Ads integration is currently a DIY setup. It can work well, but it’s not plug-and-play, and it’s sensitive to small mistakes.

We want to set expectations clearly up front:

  • Setup is complex and varies depending on your Google Ads + website configuration

  • Birrdi does not currently offer paid setup/support services for Google Ads integration

  • We do provide step-by-step guides, but they must be followed exactly

  • Because of how Google’s tools work, the setup is brittle—one missed step can break tracking

What “DIY” means in practice

If you choose to connect Google Ads to Birrdi, you (or your marketing partner) will be responsible for:

  • Configuring your Google Ads conversion tracking

  • Installing and verifying tags (and ensuring they fire correctly)

  • Validating that conversions are being recorded as expected

  • Keeping the setup working over time as Google updates their tools

Our recommended approach

If you’re setting this up yourself, we strongly recommend:

  1. Follow our guide from start to finish, in order

  2. Do not skip steps, even if they seem optional

  3. Double-check everything (IDs, tag placement, event names, etc.)

  4. If you have an agency, share our guide with them and ask them to follow it exactly

Common reasons Google Ads tracking “doesn’t work”

Most issues come from one of these:

  • A tag was installed in the wrong place (or installed twice)

  • A conversion ID / label is incorrect

  • A step was skipped that prevents tags from firing

  • Google’s UI or recommended setup changed since tracking was last configured

What Birrdi can and can’t do right now

We can:

  • Provide the official Birrdi guides

  • Help confirm whether Birrdi is sending the expected events (when applicable)

We can’t:

  • Set up Google Ads tracking on your behalf

  • Debug your Google Ads account configuration end-to-end

  • Provide ongoing marketing/tracking management

Bottom line

We know this isn’t ideal. The current Google Ads integration is a best-effort, DIY option and it requires careful, exact setup. It’s the best solution we can offer right now, and we’re exploring ways to make this easier over time.
