How to Use the Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome Extension) to Inspect Facebook Events Sent by Birrdi

This guide explains how to use the Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension to verify that Birrdi is correctly sending Facebook events and conversion events (such as ViewContent and Purchase) from your ads and booking flow.

Updated over a month ago

⚠️ Important: Facebook events will only fire correctly if you enter the flow through a live Facebook ad. Testing without clicking an ad will not work.

Requirements

Before starting, make sure you have:

  • Google Chrome installed

  • The Meta Pixel Helper Chrome extension installed. Click here to install

  • A live Facebook ad currently running

  • Your Facebook account connected to Birrdi

  • The Meta Pixel script installed on your website

Step 1: Install the Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome Extension)

  1. Open Google Chrome

  2. Go to the Chrome Web Store

  3. Search for Meta Pixel Helper

  4. Install the extension

  5. Confirm the Pixel icon appears in your Chrome toolbar

This tool allows you to see which Facebook events fire as you navigate your site.

Step 2: Confirm Your Facebook Integration in Birrdi

Before testing events, your integration must be fully set up.

  1. In Birrdi, go to Integrations → Facebook

  2. Connect your Facebook account

  3. Make sure the Birrdi Conversion Tag script installed on your website

  4. Make sure the Meta Pixel script is installed on your website

⚠️ If the pixel and conversion tag are not installed on your site, no events will fire, even if everything is connected in Birrdi.

Step 3: Click a Live Facebook Ad (This Is Required)

This is the most important step and the most common point of confusion.

  1. Locate one of your running Facebook ads

  2. Click the Call-to-Action (CTA) button on the ad

    • Example: Book Now, Reserve, Learn More

❌ This will not work if you:

  • Visit your site directly

  • Paste the website URL into your browser

  • Click “Book Online” without coming from an ad

You must pretend you are a customer who saw the ad and clicked it.

Step 4: Click “Book Online” on Your Website

After clicking the Facebook ad:

  1. You should land on your website

  2. Click the Book Online button (anywhere on the site)

  3. You will be redirected to your Birrdi booking link

At this point, open the Meta Pixel Helper extension.

Expected Event

  • ViewContent should fire when the Birrdi booking page loads

You will see this event listed in the Meta Pixel Helper panel.

Step 5: Complete a Booking to Verify the Purchase Event

  1. Continue through the booking flow

  2. Complete a test purchase

  3. Open the Meta Pixel Helper again

Expected Event

  • Purchase event should fire after the booking is completed

This confirms Facebook conversions are being tracked correctly.
