Forget Shopify! Square Already Has the Website Platform You Need

When golf simulator operators think about building a website, Shopify is often one of the first names that comes to mind.

That makes sense. Shopify has become synonymous with ecommerce.

But for most golf simulator businesses using Birrdi and Square, adding Shopify is usually unnecessary—and often creates more problems than it solves.

The bigger issue is that many operators don’t realize how capable Square Online already is.

Square isn’t just your POS and payment processor. It also gives you a complete website platform built on the technology Square acquired from Weebly.

In our opinion, it is one of the best website-building platforms available for a golf simulator business—and because it is already connected to Square, it keeps your entire operation working together.

Square Online Is More Than Most Operators Realize

A lot of businesses still think of Square as the terminal sitting at the front desk.

They don’t realize they can build their entire website through Square Online.

You can create a professional website, connect your domain, build pages, sell products, manage your online catalog, and handle ecommerce directly inside the same Square ecosystem you’re already using for your business.

For most operators, that eliminates the need for Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, or another standalone website platform.

And from our perspective, the Weebly-based editor is excellent.

It is easy to use, flexible enough for a modern golf simulator website, and far simpler to manage than many more complicated website platforms.

More importantly, it is connected.

The Connection Is the Real Advantage

A website should not be treated like a completely separate part of your business.

Your website is where customers discover you, learn what you offer, purchase products, and eventually make reservations.

If your website is built through Square Online, it is already connected to the same Square environment handling your items, customers, payments, gift cards, loyalty, food and beverage, and other commerce activity.

Then Birrdi integrates with Square to handle the golf simulator-specific side of the business.

That creates a very simple structure:

Square Online → Square → Birrdi

Your website, commerce, customer data, POS, and reservation system all work around the same foundation.

That is much cleaner than introducing Shopify and then trying to reconnect everything afterward.

Shopify Creates a Fracture

The problem with Shopify is not that it is bad software.

The problem is that it becomes another ecosystem.

Now your website and ecommerce may live in Shopify.

Your physical POS still lives in Square.

Your reservations and payments through Birrdi are connected to Square.

Your food and beverage is in Square.

Your customer activity is spread across different places.

You have effectively taken a connected system and split it into separate pieces.

That means more dashboards, more customer records, more payment workflows, more reporting, and more opportunities for things not to match.

At some point, you end up asking:

How do we sync Shopify back into everything else?

But if you had simply used Square Online from the beginning, there may have been nothing to reconnect.

Keep the Stack Simple

Your technology stack does not need to be complicated.

For most golf simulator businesses, it can be very straightforward:

Square Online for your website

Square for your POS, payments, customers, and commerce

Birrdi for your golf simulator operations

That gives you a modern website, a connected point of sale, one customer ecosystem, and a reservation platform built specifically for your business.

No unnecessary duplication.

No rebuilding your customer database somewhere else.

No trying to stitch separate payment and ecommerce platforms together later.

The Bottom Line

Shopify is a great ecommerce platform.

But most golf simulator businesses using Birrdi and Square simply do not need it.

Square Online already gives you a powerful, easy-to-use website builder built on Weebly technology—and in our opinion, it is a better fit than Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, or WordPress for this type of business because it is already connected to the rest of your operation.

That is the part many operators miss.

You are not choosing between website builders.

You are choosing between:

One connected ecosystem

or

another separate system that now has to be managed and connected.

For most Birrdi operators, we strongly recommend keeping it simple:

Build your website with Square Online. Run your commerce through Square. Run your golf simulator operation through Birrdi.

One ecosystem. One source of truth. Far less complexity.
