Sometimes you want to temporarily open earlier or stay open later—for example, extending your hours for a busy week or a special event. If your normal hours are something like 5pm–9pm, and you want to open from 11am–7pm just for one week, there are two ways to handle this:
Option A (Recommended): Use hidden custom events to block out the unwanted hours
Option B: Change your actual hours (but this affects your schedule permanently)
Below is how each option works.
Option A — Use Hidden Custom Events (Recommended)
This lets you expand your hours temporarily without touching your standard schedule.
Step 1: Remove your normal hours for the specific days
Go to Settings → Hours and clear out your standard hours for the days you want to override. This prevents your default 5pm–9pm schedule from interfering.
Step 2: Create two hidden custom events to block unwanted times
Once the default hours are cleared, you now tell Birrdi which times should NOT be bookable. Since you want the temporary hours to be 11am–7pm, you’ll create:
1. A hidden custom event to block the early hours
Blocks 12:00am → 10:59am
2. A hidden custom event to block the late hours
Blocks 7:30pm → 11:59pm
These events should be:
Hidden
Set to repeat only for the week you want
Assigned to the proper location/bay
Why two blocks?
Because Birrdi’s hours logic needs you to explicitly block the parts of the day you don’t want available. The remaining gap—11am–7pm—is automatically open for bookings.
Option B — Update Your Hours Directly (Permanent Change)
You can simply update your hours under Settings → Hours to 11am–7pm.
However:
This change stays in effect forever
You must remember to reset it back to 5pm–9pm after the week is over
It’s easy to forget and accidentally leave your business open all day
For short-term adjustments, this is usually not ideal.
Summary
If you want to temporarily open more hours for only a specific week:
Remove your hours for those days
Create two hidden custom events
One to block the morning
One to block the late evening
The time left unblocked automatically becomes available for booking
It may feel a little unintuitive at first, but once set up, it’s extremely flexible and easy to manage going forward.
