Setting Up Secret Rates for Memberships

BE CAREFUL: Use secret rates only when you intentionally want to limit visibility to a very small, specific group of people

Updated over a month ago

Overview

Use secret rates only when you intentionally want to limit visibility to a very small, specific group of people. Otherwise, keeping member rates visible helps customers see the value of joining a membership — which is usually something you do want to highlight, not hide.

Secret rates allow you to offer pricing that is only visible to members of a specific membership plan. In most cases, regular member rates should not be marked as secret — we generally don’t recommend it.

Secret rates cannot be used for public pricing — they require a membership to be attached.

How It Works

  1. Secret rates are only visible to customers who belong to the attached membership.

  2. Non-members and public users will never see or know that the secret rate exists.

  3. When a member signs in, Birrdi automatically recognizes their membership and unlocks access to any secret rates tied to it.

  4. Public players will only see standard, public rates.

Setting Up a Secret Rate

  1. Go to Birrdi Admin → Rates.

  2. Either edit an existing rate or add a new rate.

  3. In the Membership field, attach the membership you want the rate to be associated with.

  4. Enable the “Secret Rate” toggle.

  5. Save your changes.

Once saved, only members of the attached membership will see and be able to book using that rate.

Important Notes

  • Use secret rates only when you intentionally want to limit visibility to a very small, specific group of people. Otherwise, keeping member rates visible helps customers see the value of joining a membership — which is usually something you do want to highlight, not hide.

  • You must attach a membership to use the secret rate feature.

  • If no membership is attached, you won’t be able to make a rate secret.

  • Secret rates are great for offering member-only discounts, perks, or early access pricing.
