Leagues in Birrdi: Flexible Ways to Run Your League

There are a few different ways to run leagues in Birrdi. The right approach depends on how structured vs flexible you want your league to be.

Option 1: Fixed Schedule (Custom Events)

This is the simplest, most rigid setup.

How it works:

  • Create a Custom Event

  • Set it to repeat weekly (or your desired cadence)

  • Select the specific bays

  • Lock in the exact day/time

Result:

  • Time is fully blocked off on the calendar

  • Players show up at the same time every week

Limitations:

  • No flexibility for rescheduling

  • Not ideal if players want to book their own times

✅ Recommended: Flexible League (Membership + Credits)

This is the most scalable and flexible way to run leagues.

Players can book their own times while still staying within league rules.

Step 1: Create a League Membership

Create a membership such as:

  • Fall League

  • Spring League

  • League

You can:

  • Set the fee to $0 or a small entry fee (e.g. $5)

Important:

Even for $0 memberships, a credit card is required. This ensures you always have a card on file.

Step 2: Create a League Credit Plan

This is how you distribute “included” league play.

Example:

  • 12 credits (12 hours total)

  • 1 credit per day

If your league runs 12 weeks:

  • Members receive 1 free hour per week

Attach this credit plan to your league membership.

Step 3: Create a League Rate

Create a rate such as:

  • League

  • Fall League

(Keep the name consistent with your membership — this is recommended.)

Configure the rate:

  • Apply the League Membership to the rate

  • Set a discount to the rate price (e.g. 5%–10% off rack rate)

  • Restrict to:

    • Specific days of the week

    • Specific times

  • Set a date range matching the league duration

🎯 How It Works for Customers

  1. Customer signs up using the membership link

  2. They receive their league credits

  3. They book using the League rate

  4. They apply their credits at checkout

That’s it — fully self-serve.

⚖️ Choosing the Right Setup

Use Custom Events if:

  • Everyone plays at the same time every week

  • You want full control over scheduling

Use Membership + Credits if:

  • Players need flexibility

  • You want less manual coordination

  • You’re running leagues regularly

Leagues in Birrdi are designed to be flexible. Start simple, and scale into the membership + credit model as your league grows.
